You use apps to work from home, watch movies, find new music, update your status, organize your life, and even to order take out. You’ve embraced the smart phone era with open arms, but you’re also passionate about what you do and about creating change.

If any of this sounds like you, then have we found the apps for you! Using innovative mobile technology, you can help prevent street harassment and relationship violence from the comfort of your phone. Thanks to organizations like Hollaback! and President Obama’s ‘Apps Against Abuse’ challenge, there are exciting ways that you can use this technology to not only make a difference in your life, but also in the lives of others.

Hollaback! – a now international movement to end street harassment powered by local activists in cities around the world- launched an app in 2010 to combat street harassment, enabling users to share stories and access resources from their iPhone or Android phone. Three days ago on November 1st, the winners of the White House ‘Apps Against Abuse’ technology challenge were announced, with applications aimed at addressing dating and relationship violence. The two winning apps, “Circle of 6” and “On Watch,” were selected from a pool of over 30 prototypes submitted to Want to be the first to download these new apps?
