A student speaks out

26 Nov

K. wants you to know: “Harassment isn’t just in the streets. It’s inside our schools and a lot of the times the voices of those students go unheard because the school counselors or principals don’t care or don’t believe something is harassment or stalking whether it be sexual or non-sexual. I know, I went to [a Tucson-area] high school and I dealt with it for 4 years: the name-calling, having people throw stuff at me and threaten me. So not only do we need to end harassment on the streets, we have to end it in our schools and teach our children it is not ok! Because you may call a pregnant girl a whore in high school and she could harm herself because of it. Think before you act.”
